Miuccia Prada , the designer whose eponymous label associated firms and conglomerate reaches a value of three billion euros, has spoken of his fascination with the " ugliness " .
The truth is that it is a word rarely used in the fashion industry , but Miuccia insists that it was much more interesting than the "beauty" .
In an interview to the British magazine Stella , Prada said he had been criticized when he joined the world of fashion , which was equated to put garbage in the world of haute couture , when he took over in 1978 from the house of fashion that his grandfather founded .
This woman whose career was directed toward politics , he felt he was wasting his future: " It was horrible . I had a bias , yes , I've always had a problem with fashion. I guess I felt guilty for not doing something more important , more political . So somehow I'm trying to use the company for these other activities. "
Prada , 64, directs the brand with her husband Patrizio Bertelli , who has achieved commercial success although the inspiration for designs still yours , including, as herself, her unusual interest in ugliness : " The ugly is attractive , is exciting. Maybe because it's new , " he said. "Research of ugliness is, to me , more interesting than the idea of beauty. Why ? Because ugly is human. "
The creative highlights the fealda is presetne in art as in the film and there's no need to banish the world of fashion, and takes a step beyond talking about " social ugliness " . As a female entrepreneur and mother, is aware of how rare it is to have a female in charge of a large company , "Sometimes I still feel that women do not realize their position in society," he says. " We are not strong enough to impose our way of thinking , we do not like women entrepreneurs : we go against women who seem to be like men." So , aware of its responsibility and willing to go for a brand edgy and different but without abandoning their roots , Miuccia takes the best of what is apparently less attractive ... and clearly it works .
